The Colombian Agriculture and Livestock Institute, ICA, looks to maintain markets and widen real access possibilities of ornamental fishes in new commercial scenarios, which will demand a sanitary registration of ornamental fishes quarantine and commercialization establishments destined to be exported.

As activities previous of future negotiations of the Free Trade Agreement with the Korean Republic, a delegation of the Ministry of Feed, Agriculture, forestry and fishery and from the seas institute of Korea, visited the country and met with employees from the Colombian Agriculture and Livestock Institute, ICA, around the topics of fishery and aquaculture.

Producers of fish, crustaceous and mollusks that commercialize these animals for exports for human consumption should have registration given by ICA, the same way that has occurred since 2003, according to Agreement 5 from Directive council of ICA from that year and Resolution 1414 from 2006.

From November 11th to 14th, 36 fishermen from La Tigra and El y Cerrito communities, in Sabana de Torres municipality, in Santander Department, will be trained by Colombian Agriculture and Livestock Institute and the health secretary employees, in good fishermen practices and manipulation.

Bogotá, November 3rd 2009. Colombian Agriculture and Livestock Institute, ICA, for the rest of the year will manage the country’s fishery and aquaculture resources, considering that by means of a constitutional court decision, those functions must be taken by the Colombian Institute for Rural Development, INCODER.
