MISSION

Support the sanitary safe commerce of agricultural products in the international markets.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE

  • Propose mitigation measures.
  • Prevent pests introduction risk.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

 

 

 

 

  • Develop Pest Risk Analyses (PRA's).
  • Increase exportation potential of plant products.
  • Design Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for agricultural products with exportation potential

STRATEGY

  • Establish alliances between public and private institutions.

  • Propose risk mitigation methods that are accepted by phytosanitary authority of the importing country

PRA  PEST RISK ANALYSIS

  • Inspection / Pre-clearance (i.e. for flowers).
  • Exportation from Free Areas.
  • Low prevalence Area.
  • Managing by Systems Approach

Quarantine treatments to control the pest introduction & reproduction

  • Fumigation.
  • Hot water treatment (mango).
  • Hot vapor heat (pitaya).
  • Cold treatment (cape gooseberry).
